We offer shares in our small herd of Dutch Belted dairy cows to those desiring fresh, whole milk. Each share represents partial ownership of the herd. In return for a monthly boarding fee, we'll care for the cows, milk them, and make available to you a portion of their milk. The milk is unpasteurized, and non-homogenized. Enjoy the milk whole, or skim the cream for whipping, butter, or ice cream. See our Cow Share FAQ for more information.
We raise heritage breed Tamworth pigs in the open air and sunshine
of their outdoor pens. Our sows, Tulip and Georgia, farrow and rear their
litters on the farm. After weaning, our pigs are fed locally-grown corn,
clabbered milk from our dairy cows, garden scraps, and eggs from the henhouse.
Tamworth pork is reddish, firm, and flavorful unlike the white, spongy,
tasteless pork sold in supermarkets. Tamworth bacon is unrivalled and highly
recommended. The pigs are processed locally at a state-inspected facility.
Individual cuts and halves cut to your specifications are available.
Eggs are always available from our free-range hens. The yolks are
bright orange and stand up in the pan. Our hens are fed a layer mash we grind
here on the farm using locally-grown grains, though they prefer to scratch
around the farm for bugs, worms, and clover.
Starting the summer of 2009 we will offer a limited number of pastured chickens.
